REPORT
From the 1st to the 5th of March, the two founders of Hyestart were in Armenia to present the association (its origin, goals, and activities) to a maximum number of key interlocutors of the Armenian literary and artistic circles, but also diplomats , think tanks and human rights NGOs. The idea was not only to get to know each other, but also to see how Hyestart could concretely co-operate with the various stakeholders in Armenia's cultural and human rights circles in order to bring about real added value.
Hyestart's second goal is to support socially-challenging and politically-meaningful (i.e. which concerns the citizen) contemporary artistic creation in Armenia and the region, emphasizing visual arts and literature. The main goal of this 5-day visit to Armenia was therefore to decisively advance our first two concrete projects in Armenia, namely the project to promote internationally Armenian fiction with a contemporary social and/or political resonance through the Vartanouche Krikorian grant and the regional women's photojournalism festival. On these two projects, significant progress has been made and we will soon be able to say more publicly, probably at the Geneva Book and Press Fair in late April.
Finally, as you may also know, one of Hyestart's activities is to conduct trainings that provide information on the tools of contemporary artistic creation with a cultural democracy angle. For this reason, Alain Navarra-Navassartian, President of Hyestart, will stay longer in Armenia until 11 March to train Armenian tourism executives in art history and to raise awareness of the themes of citizenship and tourism development at the Kasa Center on Nalbandian Street in Yerevan.
